Largo de Nossa Senhora da Nazaré
The administrator of the Royal House of Our Lady of Nazaré D. Nuno Álvares Pereira de Mello, 1st Duke of Cadaval, built the Palace in 1718 and its main purpose was to accommodate the Royal Family when they came here on pilgrimage.
It is possible to find historical records of the royal visits of King John VI accompanied by Prince Peter, King Miguel and also Queen Maria I.
The ground floor was used for trade.
The main façade features a large balustrade balcony, which serves as the main entrance to the building.
With the end of the monarchy and the consequent establishment of the Republic, the palace began to be used for very distinct activities, like balls during Carnival and other festivities.
Today it houses some services of the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Nazaré and temporary exhibitions in the noble room.
