Dune of Aguieira

This dune belongs to a sedimentary complex of dunes and sands derived from the North of Nazaré, whose width sometimes exceeds six kilometers.

The preservation of this structure, resistant to erosive effects, may be related with the plantation of the pine forest of Leiria.

The high altitude of these formations may be associated with the elevation of the western flank of the Diapir of Caldas da Rainha.
