Ladeira – cobblestone staircase

The old sandy path, which served as a link between the beach and Sítio, was paved in order to improve the access to the Sanctuary but also to the Hospital.

Until the construction of the Funicular this was the fastest route between the two parts of the village.

Even today, going up or down the Ladeira allows us to admire the beauty of Nazaré, its beach and houses, its streets that run down to the sea, its landscape to the horizon and beyond.
