Located in the Marginal Avenue of Nazaré, near the Old Fish Auction Building, this monument aims to pay tribute to the women that saw their children and husbands go to the sea, to earn the family’s sustenance, many times without returning.
Pedestrian feminine figure, sided by two children, that has upon its head an allegory related to the physical aspect of Nazaré, with some anthropological and ethnographical motifs of the Portuguese fishing coast.
This bronze monument, measuring 4 metres, is the work of Celestino Alves André and was inaugurated in 2005.
