The beach of Nazaré is integrated in the urban area of the village by the houses of the marginal avenue, limited to the north by the promontory and to the south by the pier of the Fishing Harbour. During the bathing season, the traditional cloth tents with strong coloured stripes are one of the brand marks of Praia da Nazaré, being the option of most families who spend their vacation here. It is one of the most popular Portuguese beaches for visitors, tourists and vacationers, as a destination for sun, sea, golden sands and leisure.
With an immense beach, where modern equipments have been installed in recent years taking advantage of the benefits of the sea of Nazaré for well-being and health, Praia da Nazaré is still a place full of traditions, where, sometimes it is possible to see some older fishermen sewing nets or simply contemplating the sea, or the older women dressed in their traditional costume passing by the fish drying ground (an old tradition) located close to the Cultural Centre (old fish auction).
Known as one of the most traditional Portuguese fishing villages, Nazaré has the most popular bathing beach on the west coast. Extending along the waterfront (between Avenida Manuel Remígio and Avenida da República), where he find many restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenir and handicraft shops, Praia da Nazaré invites you to a stroll overlooking the sea at any time of the day.
Due to its sea conditions, the waves of Praia da Vila are very popular among surfers and bodyboarders, but it is, especially in summer, a family beach, offering excellent safety conditions for swimmers of different ages and with different conditions of mobility, therefore being considered a “Beach for All” (for more information access the website), with ISO 14001: 2015 certification; being also a Blue Flag beach.
