Recreation of the Arte Xávega

The Arte Xávega, traditional coastal fishing art, has been losing its importance throughout time, but it still can be seen in Nazaré. The Velha Guarda do Folclore da Nazaré presents this art of fishing where everyone can participate helping to pull in the nets liven up and transforming the beach. It takes place in May, on Saturday afternoons, from 4 p.m. on, depending on the tide and good weather conditions.
