Dr. Joaquim Manso Museum

Inaugurated in 1976, the Museum Dr. Joaquim Manso has been housed, since 1972, in an early 20th-century house – the former summer home of Dr. Joaquim Manso, writer and journalist, founder of the Diário de Lisboa newspaper – donated to the Portuguese Government in 1968 for this purpose by the Nazaré benefactor Amadeu Gaudêncio.

Closed for several years for renovation and improvement works, it reopened to the public on September 8, 2026, in time to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The Museum of Nazaré is an institution dedicated to the preservation and dissemination of the historical and cultural identity of the region, with a strong connection to maritime culture. Its collection includes traditional boats, fishing gear, typical costumes, photography, painting, and archaeology, bringing together evidence of the community's relationship with the sea, fishing, work, and traditions.
