Recreation of the Arte Xávega 2026

The tradition of Xávega Art, a legacy of our ancestors, will return to revive the municipality’s living heritage.

The Arte Xávega, traditional coastal fishing art, has been losing its importance throughout time, but it still can be seen in Nazaré. The Velha Guarda do Folclore da Nazaré presents this art of fishing where everyone can participate helping to pull in the nets liven up and transforming the beach.

It will take place on the sand of Nazaré Beach on May 2nd, 9th, 16th, 24th and 30th, at 4:30 PM, depending on the tide and weather conditions.
